Is Doggy Day care Right for My Dog?

If you’re like most dog owners on the Sunshine Coast, you want the very best for your furry friend—including keeping them active, social, and happy. But is doggy daycare the right fit for every pup? Not always—and that’s okay!

At Waggy Warehouse, we offer a fun, safe, and stimulating indoor environment where dogs can play, explore, and socialise. But we also believe in being honest: not every dog is suited for group daycare, and that’s perfectly normal.

Signs Your Dog Might Love Daycare

They love meeting new dogs
Friendly, playful dogs often thrive in a well-managed daycare—especially those who enjoy variety and making new friends.

  1. They have plenty of energy
High-energy breeds or pups who get bored at home benefit from structured play and enrichment.

  2. They’re confident in new environments
If your dog settles quickly and adapts well to new people, sights, and smells, they’ll likely enjoy a change of scenery.

  3. They’ve had positive past experiences
If your dog has previously enjoyed dog parks or daycares without issue, that’s a great sign!

When Daycare Might Not Be the Best Fit

Some dogs prefer quiet and calm, and that’s okay too.

  • Dogs who are anxious or reactive around others

  • Dogs who are very shy or prefer human company

  • Dogs who are not desexed and over 12 months old (We assess younger dogs on a case-by-case basis)

We only accept social dogs that thrive in open-play, mixed-size groups—and that’s for everyone’s safety and comfort.

How We Do Things at Waggy Warehouse

Every dog at Waggy starts with a free Meet & Greet. This allows us to gently assess your dog’s social behaviour, comfort level, and play style before they join the fun.

Our space offers both indoor and outdoor areas, providing a weather-safe environment year-round. Dogs of all sizes mix together freely under full supervision, just like at the park—only safer. We don’t use toys during play to help avoid possessiveness and prevent conflict, but we provide plenty of enrichment and structured play /activities through the day to keep every pup happy and engaged.

Still Not Sure? That’s Okay!

Choosing the right setting for your dog is important. If you’re unsure, just register with us and book a meet & greet —there’s no pressure to commit after the meeting.

You’ll get to see the space, meet the team, and we’ll help you decide if Waggy Warehouse is the right fit for your dog.
